Wallpapering Children's Rooms

Sasi Wallpaper has a wide variety of wallpapers for kids bedrooms. From your new bundle of joy to your teenager, we have all types of wallpapers for kids.

When it comes to decorating children’s bedrooms parents put a lot of thought and love into choosing the right wallpaper, paint colours, beds, desks and other items. Creating a warm and inviting space for our children is probably one of the most precious gifts we can give them. Parenting experts explain that children who are lucky enough to have their own room learn responsibility and mature faster for a number of reasons.

We love Saturday mornings when parents come in to select wallpaper for their little ones whether they are still in the womb or 18 years old. The most common comment is “they must be able to grow with the wallpaper”. My reply is that wallpaper is going to last between 5 to 7 years and if your child is 2 they are only going to be 7 to 9 years old when you need to replace it….they are still little!

There is certainly no shortage of choice when it comes to children’s wallpapers. Sasi has stripes, spots, zigzags, boats, cars, princesses and stars. Children’s papers offer the widest colour range of papers too, from pastel shades through to the bright and bold. If you want to stay away from a themed room but your angel loves fairies or dinosaurs, then we can offer you some stickers. Stickers are fairly cheap and can be removed without damaging the paint on the wall or cupboard.

Wallpapering one feature wall can be just what the room needs or you can wallpaper all the walls either in one paper or a combination. This is a personal choice and there is no wrong or right way. Simpler wallpaper patterns will allow you to hang their art work, pictures or floating shelves on the wallpaper.

Before you start, consider the following:

What is the age of your child?

  1. How long does the bedroom need to last? Are you decorating a nursery? When the next baby arrives will you move the older child into another room?
  2. Is your child going to play in the room too or just use it to read and sleep? Do you want to create a fun room or a tranquil and calm place?
  3. Does the wall you have chosen to wallpaper have beds and headboards against it?
  4. What other colours and patterns have to be taken into account?
  5. Are your children sharing a room and are you looking for a unisex paper?
